Chapter 5: Overview

Overview

view all chapter tables | print this section

Three case studies that illustrate the applied use of the Conners 4th Edition (Conners 4®) are presented and discussed in this chapter. Each case contains a review of the referral question and history, as along with the evaluation, measures used1, assessment findings, and clinical impressions. A summary of how the results were communicated is also presented.

These case studies are intended to serve as examples of how the guidelines presented in this manual (see chapter 4, Interpretation) might be applied. It is unlikely that the interpretation and intervention steps will be identical for any two cases. These examples are provided to illustrate how specific scenarios are addressed and are not intended to be a strict guide for what to do in all settings. Although a review of this chapter will facilitate the application of the principles described in this manual, the information provided in this chapter cannot be used as a substitute for clinical training and experience.

1 While tests other than the Conners 4 may be mentioned in the case studies, only the results from the Conners 4 are fully interpreted.
